I asked him to set the radio up for the amp...so I'm not sure how he did it. But he did what I asked. All that matters to me is the radio talks well.

I have heard they tend to break electrically from flexing too much...very similar to most fiberglass antennas that break electrically at the base, only they can break anywhere along their length...

I have at least $250 in my Cobra 29...between the echo, tune up, retunes, alignments, swing kits, etc...I found a reputable shop, a member on this board, and have stuck with him. Doing it right the first time is a whole lot cheaper!

Whoops! This radio didn't come with a mic, and I noticed it has a five-pin connection...not a standard cobra/uniden 4-pin. Can a 4-pin (like a Astatic 636L or RK56) be rewired for the five pin???

Upon closer inspection, a jumper has replaced R174 and the connector with three wires near R174 has had three of the wires clipped and there is no corresponding ends...
