    25 and 26 MHz operators?

Does anyone else frequent the frequencies below CB Channel 1? I've always had a fascination with that netherworld of 11 meters. I'm active on 26.420 MHz USB with the Charlie Oscar (Canadian Outlaws DX Group) bunch. We have literally thousands of members worldwide. There are often stations...

    Digital Transmissions -- 27.360 MHz

When the band is in to Europe, I presume the digital signals I'm hearing are coming from there. The carrier seems to be centered on 27.358.1 MHz. I'm not into digital modes, so I don't have any digital decoding capability. Does anyone know what the transmissions are?

Channel 5 in Mexico/S. America: Like Our Channel 19?

This afternoon the band is open to what sounds like either Mexico or South America. Channel 5 has tons of AM signals. As I tune up from 27.015 MHz in 1 kHz increments, I can hear literally hundreds of carriers (many of which are off-frequency) that stretch up at least 3 kHz. Does anyone...

    Amateur Tri-band Beam on 11m?

Has anyone here ever used a tri-band (20, 15, and 10m) beam on 11 meters? I have tuners galore, so tuning a non-resonant antenna is not a problem. But, I'm just wondering how effective (i.e. F/B ratio, gain, etc.) a tribander can be on 11. Does anyone have any experience with one? Tnx...

    Welcome back 11m DX!

WOW! Talk about “what a difference a day makes,” somebody opened the E-layer door and the skip was a-rollin’! Yesterday was nothing, but today the band came alive. I had a couple good SSB QSO’s on channel 16 (LSB), and also a couple real nice SSB (also LSB) QSO’s on 27.145. One guy and I...

    Any other CW OP's here?

Since this section of the forum is dedicated to CW and other digital modes, I thought I’d post something about CW, since I’ve not seen much discussion of the mode here. Simply put, CW is great! Please let’s not start a pro-code/no-code discussion. Instead, if there are any of you who enjoy...

Anyone use channel 16 SSB anymore?

I'm curious, does anyone here still use channel 16 SSB? As an old timer (mid-60's), I remember well when channel 16 was the main SSB channel here in the USA. When the 40 channel CB's came along, much of the SSB activity moved up to channels 35 - 40 in most areas. I also remember the...

Adios SW BC QRM on 40m!

Yes, it won't be long until the shortwave broadcast stations are gone on a portion of the 40 meter band! I think it's the end of this month, when we will have it back, all to ourselves. The QRM-free portion of the band will be 7100 - 7200 kHz. Now if we can get those remaining BC stations...
