4 pin mic to 5 pin cobra

I need a new mic and all I can find locally is 4 pin mics and I have a 148 gtl with 5 pin socket. Can someone direct me to a wiring guide.

If the new mic only has 4 wires should i just leave off the ground?

Yep will work alright with most mics.

4 wire to 5 pin cobra

4 wires to 5 pin cobra an easy to do thing

pin 1 mic or audio + mic hot to this pin
pin 2 shield or ground - mic ground to this pin
pin 3 receive - from this pin jumper to pin 4
pin 4 switching wire - ptt ground to this pin
pin 5 transmit + ptt hot to this pin

this is for 4 wire mic to 5 pin cobras good luck works good

Make sure that you solder a small jumper between pins 2 and 4 on the 5 pin plug. Tying the 2 grounds together ensures squeal-free performance, and will not change RX tone at higher volumes.

Just buy a adapter. Had to do that with my 148GTL. Then mic still wired for 4 pins to use on other radiosop:

Yep, you can do that also, you can buy the 5pin to 4pin adapter, but the adapter should be be pulled apart to have the jumper installed on pins 2 and 4. Some adapters have that jumper, some don't. Just double check the adapter if you go that route to make sure that both the shield and the ground are tied together.
