About a week ago my TRC-457 started acting crazy. Turned out that the ON/OFF switch on the back of the volume control was toasted (literally). All of the power for the radio runs through this puny switch. I had a replacement in a parts radio, but since it was my only one, I wired up a relay to control the power and used the replacement switch to control the relay. Works great. Thought I'd share it with everyone.
