I once considered making a lamp out of a d-104 base mic but at the time I though it was a waste of parts to do that with. An on/off switch with the ptt would be kind of cool.
My dead Nobatron 40 amp power supply which is full of iron transformers makes a fantastic door-stop. Not even the strongest winds can budge it.........
It would do even better as a boat anchor.......
I have tried to think of other uses for a radio and can only come up with one. Take a junk AM radio and an SSB receiver, remove the predriver, driver and final on the AM radio, and with antennas connected to the oscillator crystals, you will have made an 11m Theramin/proximity detector. The FCC letter for operating a musical instrument will make for a good story to tell.
