Don't use chrome paint as it has some conductive stuff in there, but it looks good on the Harley approved verticals.............
IMO Plasti-Dip is a better alternative to paint. It will hold up better to inclimate weather and UV, and if the antenna is fiberglass it will help to prevent it from splitting over time.
lead based paint might be an issue.:
The lead paint might cause conductivity or VF issues if the current were to travel through it. On an imax or an antron there would definately be capacitance issues with the lead paint but on an aluminium antenna if the current travelled through the paint there would be VF issues.We wouldn't want a shielded antenna stopping the RF...

Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
