Anyone know about the POWER MAX 100 amp power supply?

I was given a POWER MAX 100 amp dc power supply. The POWER MAX has 4, 40 amp fusses, and a fan. My friend is not a radio guy and got it in a triad some place. I was thinking of useing it with my dx500 rf amp.
Any input?

I bought the 100 amp 3 or 4 years ago. Lots of RX hash but they seem to work ok for some people. It works fine for charging batteries.

Surplus server power supplies can be had cheaper and they don't trash the receiver. Ive got less than $100 in my 200+ amp bench supply. It can be done for less if you shop around.

When I get to setting up the base I'll check it out, I got some stuff lay'en around I could filter it for next to zip.
If not MAGAWATT, or like you'all was say'en I go to the junk computer guy and get some P.S.

ThermalTake 600w
and
Random High-Power CPU ATX PSU's

From what i gather, the PSU you have is capable of 1440 watts continuous and can accommodate a bigger amplifier than most consumer level computer ATX power supply could dream of, just need some cap(s) to help filter it I think, I don't know though I'm just talkin' out my @$$.

If it is a switch mode power supply (i think it is) you may have noise issues without a bunch of 'filter mods'.
If you use a ATX computer power supply make sure the "continuous" output is going to be enough for your current demands under full load, also I have never used a computer power supply for an amplifier only a radio, it seemed clean enough though.

Have one of these as a back up 100 amp supply. There is some RX hash if its positioned near your radios. I moved it about 20' away and it cut down on the QRM. Just had to run some larger wires to the amp.

Let us know if you add some filtering to it and how you did so please.
