Hi all, just wondering if anybody has used the 10-DA element versus the standard 'lollipop' one on the D104 desk mic, would the 10-DA SSB mic head be a worthwhile investment? and if so what is the sound difference between them.

Thanks

I have one that came with my Yaesu FT-990 its a silver eagle D104 but it came with both elements but this fella swore by the 10-DA head or element I tried it on 75 meters and the guys on the other end didnt care. for the sound. I guess Ican hook it up someday and use the microphone EQ in the radio while monitoring with another rig and see what I can do with It as far as audio sound.

I'm using one right now on a golden eagle stand with a Cobra 2000. I am getting favourable audio reports. My previous favorite with this radio was a Turner +3 but reception reports are better with the 10-DA. I'm sticking with the DA for now!

id take the 10da head over a standard d104 head anyday. especially if your
gonna use it on ssb.

Thanks for the info, next question is where the heck can I get one! If anybody has one for sale let me know, I'm in UK and can pay instantly with paypal if anybody is willing to post at my cost. Thanks.

To my ears the 10da doesn't sound as good on any mode. IMHO it's sounds dull while the crystal/ceramic element has a brighter sound with more detail.

Hi, thanks for the info. What kind of element is in the 10-da head? For any other modes other than SSB the 10-DA may not be as good I reckon, I only use SSB here so would still like to try one.

Recently I found an easy mod to run the t-up9/d104 off of the power in the radio, so no more 9v batterys!

It sounds nasal and pinched for AM but sounds great on SSB. I wish i could find one to use on my FT 101E.
