Decided today was a great day to start a new project. A go box for my VX-7r.
Here is what i am working with need to go to the store to get a SO239 panel mount and some Copper 7"x5" double sided boards (ground plane).
Bought the water proof pelican case for a $1.95 (brand new) at a thrift shop last summer.

Got the antenna mount installed and stuffing all chopped up. just waiting on the copper boards to arrive in the mail. Going to try a QSO on simplex tmrw with a comet SBB5 attached to the mount on the box ( probably wont do much good without some grounding).

Here it is in action. I know its silly i made a go box for an HT but guess what? MY signal has improved very well over the dummyload HT antenna:)

It's not silly. Any radio project is a fun project...even if it seems silly. Now make one for a mobile with enclosed battery.

That's my plan. A bigger go box. Just need to design the antenna mount. IMO a go box with no antenna mount isn't a go box.
