I was told it is a palomar 250 watt. It has 2 sd1446 pills inside. It was bought new and never used around 10 years ago or more. Is that the proper wattage and does it have an automatic sideband switch inside? The guy wants 75$ for it.

i went to google and type in palomar 250 watt and just go through and read man when in doubt go to google remember google is your friend

If you can find them for $50 buy it up. Just a cheap little amp. Will do closer to maybe 180-200W pep. But what you have to remember is, the 1446 transistor is now going for $35-40 if you have to replace them. If its new never used, the transistors are worth that.

Looks just like my ShootingStar. It has 2X1446's in it. Does about 175 PEP @ 13.8 Volts.

Those black face Palomar 250 and 300 amps are cheap class C throw away amps. Used and working 50-75 is fair. Brand new they are 109-149 depending on where you look. The best of the breed are the blue face Palomar 250's, they are class AB with some filtering.
Palomar Elite 250 Linear Amplifier, DNJ Radio

The number on the front is more of a model number, not wattage number. As stated, those finals are getting expensive. I used to buy the Elite 300's for 48 bucks each by the case, I could double my money easy in 6 weeks.

What are the input tuning figures on the AMP you linked? Is that a blue faced one from DNJ, looks black to me, but I'm color blind.

Thanks.

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned

Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
