Channels 1, 20, and 40 are all at like 3-3.4 on SWR meter...

Why would it be doing that? A few weeks ago it was at:

Ch1 and ch40 around 1.4 and ch. 20 was around 1.3 ish.

The only thing I did to it was tilt the antenna towards the truck to make it stand straight up and down, but it was a small tilt, not more than about 10 degrees or so.

Anytime you bring the antenna nearer or closer to any metal it will bring the swr up-- it could be something just as simple as a bad connection to ground-- tough to say

Well, we flipped the mount around and now my ch 1 is at 1.4 and my ch 40 is at 2.0, with a ch20 at around 1.15-1.2 :shock:


I guess it's ok now.

What kind of mount was it?-- like a 90 degree ball mount?

It's just a mirror mount.

I had the part of the mount where the antenna actually mounts to it pointing towards the truck at first. Well I decided to flip it around (putting it to where the lip and hole is to mount the antenna is facing away from the truck) and it fixed it... :?:

sorta on the same topic but a little different

ch 1 is at 1.1
ch 40 is at 1.8/1.9

but I am getting tons of static .. my setup hasnt really
changed other than a new co-phase coax after my
truck was in the shop for 54 days getting fix after being
rear ended by a drunk driver ...

the body shop put the original co-phase coax back wrong
and let it hang down on the tailpipe needless to say it melted
and shorted out ...

any ideas how come I am getting tons of static now ?
