Is RG58 fine to use for an 11 m dipole lead (no amp used, so no more than about 15 Watts on SSB), with a run of about 50 feet in an attic? Or do I need to use something like RG8X. Or, what other type would you recommend. Trouble is my only cable source in town for RG8X is really expensive, so I was wondering about the RG58. I cold order coax online, but I'm excited to get u and running soon--my power supply just arrived and I built my antenna last night! Thanks!!!(y)

I would use it but I would plan on upgrading sometime in the future, when your starting out with less power any losses hurt worse. 8x can be had for 35 cents per foot online and rg-8 for like 80 cents. I think I read somewhere over 50 feet on rg-58 you will loose about 1 db of output power, with 8x being a little better and rg-8 only loosing about 1/2 a db

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned

Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
