I was looking at a radio tonight. A Uniden 76xl. Same as the cobra 29. Anyway, What I noticed was the resistor R56 was not soldered in place. Only one lead was still connected. This looked like it was done for a reason but I don't for the life of me understand why someone would do this. I looked at the schematics and this resistor goes to ground between the final and driver. Doesn't this resistor have an important job acting like a filter/safety or something like that?

Why would someone do this? What would happen if this was done?

Just trying to understand CB radio a bit better so this one really made me scratch my head. I put it back in place and the radio seems to work as it should, but WHY would someone do this???

Thanks for helping a guy to understand better.
:)
