This was always been a Bucket List Item of mine:
To Be a part of a DXpedition....(y)
Never thought I would get the opportunity

Well this morning I WAS INVITED TO JOIN ONE!!!!
Fall of 2014...Mountain Top DXpedition to AMERICAN SAMOA in the S. Pacific

Trip length approx 2 weeks... Flight travel time from Seattle,WA roughly 34 hours!!

This will take some doing on my part....
Lose some serious weight (I am 6"2" about 260lbs)....and get what will be then a... 61 yr old body ready
Plus Work some SERIOUS Overtime(again hard on an old man)...
Approx cost of trip $5K+ USD

But for Now I am very excited to think this may work out...
I told the Better Half...She did NOT say no!(y)....

Hope everything comes together for you and you get to go...opportunity of a lifetime for sure.
 
I am silly crazy right now....
Sitting at dinner tonight...My better half said "when is your trip?"...
I said Fall of 2014...(still pending...reservations/location and permits...etc.)
She said "Better save your Pennies":drool:
I'm pumped!....
I was invited by a member of one of the Big West Coast DX clubs (don't know which one) but Dean (KW7XX) is a member and we chat on 75m in the very early mornings on occasions when the bands are good between IN and WA....

Thanks to All...For encouragement and support...
So many details are still uncertain
The "Top of Mountain" planned is to try and take advantage of a
"full circle" operation....
The Hotel or beach set-up would allow only limited coverage due to 180 degees being obstructed by the mountains....
So far "Tentative" operators include
W9FNB....Gary...most likely the least skilled DX'er....but biggest lungs!:D
KW7XX....Dean....Dean placed like top 50 last year for single op CW sweepstates (I think)
W8CQ....Jeff (Owner of Harbach Electronics and Peter Dahl transformers)
Jeff is a super guy...I have worked him many times and a real pleasure to sit and chat with (I meet him this year at Dayton)
Two others from the West Club....
One I believe is a member of the 3Y0X PETER IS. crew...
Plus another member, operator of several DX crews...

That thought came to me also...if this works out....
I'll try and pass along a "PILE-UP CODE" so that any W9WDX club member can use to let me know your there...and get you in the log....
I will most certainly be the most "unconventional" DX'er of the bunch:D
