I purchased a 6m to 80m reciever where can I find a plan for a long wire antenna? Or are the e bay ones ok? You get the insulators and wire .

Do you need a tuner for a receive-only radio?
I have rolls of twelve guage stranded and solid wire left from electrical jobs. Is that too heavy
I used scrap pieces of electrical wire for years. The first place I would go to when I was young was some wholesale commercial electrical supply store. Most of them wouldn’t sell to an individual, but sometimes I would get scraps for free after explaining what I wanted it for. I usually made inverted V’s out of it to eliminate some of the stress. Unfortunately most of the scraps were too short, especially for 80 meters. The resultant antenna had a few different colors, types or sized wires that were all soldered together to achieve the desired lengths. While I was on a teenage budget these hodgepodge V’s along with some good used coax given to me by a local ham, all worked great.I have rolls of twelve guage stranded and solid wire left from electrical jobs. I.drove by tractor supply three times this weekThe 4 inch electric fence insulators work pretty well and you might be able to find them locally. All i did was run a pair of zip ties thru the tubes in opposite directions and secure them to the wire. Some people add glue of some kind but they don't move unless you pull them.
