I recently picked up a Fire Bird PM-2000-SW on ebay. I am an amature in this new hobby and will be asking alot of "stupid" questions.

My questions for you pros are:

1) Is this a decent meter? In its day?

2) I dont understand the FWD/ REV switch positions. Is there a simple answer, or is this too advanced for an amature?

I am running a ranger 696F SSB, KLV 350, Imax 2000/ Moonraker 4. After reading post for the past few weeks, I thought I needed a meter too.

Thanks for all your help. This site has been the VERY best help for me, in my newfound hobby.

Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
