I know the radio can be modded to have it go up to the freeband area but you lose the high end of the 10 meter portion of the band as the highest the radio will now go is 28.302.
Is there a way to have an external switch or use a front panel switch so that you can go from just having the stock frequencies flip the switch and now you have the lower freeband portion???

Cheers

I would say yes. If you reassemble the factory resistors and connect the common end to a wire and switch I would think the radio would do exactly what you want.

Hey 999.
Thanks very much or the info I will have my buddy look into that for me.
A friend of mine has a nice Stonewall and would like to use it both on the 10 meter band along with normal 40 channels.
Thanks again.
Cheers

If I'm remembering that radio right, it has 8 bands and the PLL crystal is 13.56 MHz.

Changing it to 15.360 MHz will eliminate all bands below channel 1, but cover beyond the top of the 10-meter band.

A 14.910 Mhz crystal will get you one band below 1, and still cover a bit past 30 MHz.

A 14.460 crystal would get you two bands below channel 1, and still cover up to (I think) 29.665.

Barkett lists all three. http://www.goldeneagleradios.com/

Naturally some realignment will be called for.
