Monitoring Hurr. Katrina via amateur radio freqs.

Much ham activity going on in the gulf coast area as amateurs are lending communications support and handling radio traffic. No specific times/days are given for radio traffic, but traffic is abundant.
Please monitor only. Do not initiate traffic into the disaster area unless the nets are accepting it and you are thus set up and legally licensed to assist. You must follow all net control or relay station instructions to the letter.

(BTW, there was chatter of eye witness accounts depicting many dead bodies lying about that the media hasn't yet reported. They'd rather spend their time as an advocate for the poor, ill and oppressed rather than stick to objective reporting.)

Emergency officials have been trying to PREVENT the reporting of body recovery.CNN has obtained a restraining order to prevent emergency officials in the Hurricane Katrina disaster zone from keeping the media from covering the recovery of bodies. CNN filed suit Friday in U.S. District Court in Houston. A hearing has been scheduled for Saturday morning. They have to fight for the right to cover it!
