No need for an expensive mic

I have a FT897D whose transmit audio leaves a lot to be desired. I removed the original mic insert, threw it away and replaced it with an eletret capsule ( 5mm dia one ) and have not looked back. Every report is now a beautiful strong audio and excellent audio. I really don't see the need to purchase these expensive microphones when a 5 minute procedure will do the same thing.

No, Its a basic electret capsule, obtainable for a few pennies or cents or whatever your currency is.
Ebay number is 360765304721
You will need a 5v supply line to your mic if not a ft897 rig.
See this link for instructions http://in3eci.it/bbb/file_content/fl219.pdf
Once the mod is made, go into the rig's menu and change menu numbers 081 to 20 and 074 to 21
Save the change and enjoy good transmit audio.

Ok I have 10 of these sitting infront of me that were delivered this week. Im going to use them on my Yaesu Mics 6 handhelds and 2 MD-1 desk mics providing it works as good as described. Im also going to experiment with a few other handhelds and desk mics.
