I am having trouble with an alignment on an old president Grant I picked up.
The trouble is I am not able to get a frequency reading on tp21, the bare lead of r101. What am I doing wrong?
The radio works properly I just want to get the alignment spot on

This is where I am stuck, the third step of the alignment as per the Sams Photofact and a few other sources:
Input of frequency counter through a
47pF capacitor to TP20 (IC1 Pin 7).
Ch. 19, AMCheck for 10.240MHz.
Input of oscilloscope to TP21 (L21 Secondary).Ch. 19, AML21Adjust for maximum.
Input of frequency counter to TP21 (L21 Secondary)Ch. 19, USB
Clarifier Midrange
CT1Adjust for 33.9765MHz.
Ch. 19, AM
Clarifier Midrange
L23Adjust for 33.975MHz.
Ch. 19, LSB
Clarifier Midrange
L22Adjust for 33.9735MHz.

Also I am using the wire between the crystal filter and crystal for a ground for my probe as I normally do on alignments, it worked for the 10.240 crystal check.

Not sure why I thought that was TX, nevermind that 2AM post where I asked if it was keyed. The problem is that R101 is not the right spot to look.

The schematic puts R101 (listed on this schematic as TP10) at the output of the PLL loop mixer (the alignment step before this one). There will be a bunch of signals on it, not a good place to measure the tripler frequency. If you look at the cobra 148 manual, that says to use TP1 which is the location loose cannon mentioned which should be at 34.985MHz on AM, 34.9865 on USB and 34.9835 on LSB. Alternatively, you could look at the emitter of TR30 (the buffer before the tripler TR29). Divide the frequencies listed in the sams by 3 when probing there.
