I also consider the Starduster a modified vertical 1/2 wave dipole of sorts. But, other than maybe a little difference in feed point impedance and the appearance, how is it different from the traditional L-shaped 1/4-wave ground plane? What does the dipole do that the ground plane won't, or visa-versa?
