Strange antenna phenomenon suggested, anyone ever heard of this...

Hey HiDef, you and Rob are taking this BS Joker too seriously. His pay grade is not up to the distinctions you make, and I'm not real sure about Rob either. :D

Maybe. The problem is there are others reading who don't know that. Some people have almost total recall of what they read. Less than correct posts must be repaired otherwise someone will regurgitate it 20 years from now.

Exactly. Someone will read this thread and see some logic to it.
That was my reason for my reply.

Hey Booty,

Now you know better than to challenge the Professional CB Radio Operator Gods, after all they are the self appointed experts who know far more than anyone else on the planet and can argue down every known proven law of physics ever discovered with their time proven (I saw it on my S-Meter) tests..

"DOSY, just like a easy date. Makes you feel good even though she lies to you"

im just SOOOOOO FRACKING GLAD i found THIS PLACE a few years ago when i was trying to learn about the cb hobby !!

I've heard that if you're tuning across the band and if you stop on a operator that sounds gay, that your antenna will start to turn pink if you stay there too long.

On another board I read occassionally, a gentleman was seeking advice about an antenna issue whereas his swr is inconsistent, sometimes it is 1:1, sometimes it is 1:5 and somtimes it is 2:1

In response, one person stated: "skip can, will, and is possibly affect your swr. being over the past few days skip is rolling decent it could be. try on a non skip day to see if this is the case."

In my 30 years of being involved in the radio hobby, I have never heard of the phenomenon or experienced this.

Has anyone else ever seen/read any validity to this claim. Seems to be a new one on me.

Now wait just a minute, Yes it can!!

If you are encountering exceptionally high levels of E-layer backscatter and your signal happens to return with enough wattage and at just the right out-of-phase angle, the resulting out of phase currents captured by the antenna and thus returning down the coax, can appear to an SWR meter as an out of tune condition from increased SWR.

Furthermore, I've also heard detailed and accurate reports of large eared elephants flying.

Seldom will you see ignorance so well documented than when reading some online discussions about antennas. I've all but given up on another board because of it, and have been blasted by people who didn't have a clue what they were talking about, even though I was intentionally low key in the way I said what I did.

I've done antennas and feedlines for a living for decades now, and you know, it's just not worth arguing about with some people. Pearls before swine.

Sorry to vent here and I'm not talking about this thread or anyone on this board, but when I see the "forget all your theory, I'm talking about Real World results" kind of talk, what I see is, "I'm not real smart, I'm imaginary smart".

OK, rant mode off. It's safe to come out now.

It's not you. You are 100% right. The amount of B.S. on the internet about hammy hambone antennas is beyond belief.

me to

I dident get very good coax so some times moister gets inside of it and it will chang the ohms of it changing the swrs.sometimes i could dedkey and watch my needle jump up and down.

I had a guy tell me that if you key up with a lot of power you can change somthing in the atmosphier and draw in the skip. He said it takes a couple thousand watts but it works. And the sad part is he realy and truly belives it.
