I have 2 radios, one is a uniden ax144 and the other is a pearce simpson super cheetah. Both have almost identical chassis and both have the same fault. In tx or rx mode you can receive or transmit approx 10 channels either side of any selected frequency. The signals are at a much lower level, but are clean and clear. They seem to be equally spaced at 10kc...have used a receiver with vfo to check this. Other than this fault the radios work fine. I have spoken to several techs locally and been told to throw them in the bin. Has anyone ever come across a similar fault? Any ideas?

Almost sounds like the crystal filter has gone kaput, or is bypassed in some form. Look for any modifications or cut traces around the crystal filter. Those radios are fantastic when working properly, one of the best AM/SSB chassis to put in a vehicle.

~Cheers~

Were they both purchased fr the same person?? Maybe he modded them? Or like exit13 said check the crystal filter and for cut traces or out of place items. Could be a simple fix. Hope you find the issue. Good luck.
