I have 3 different mobile SSB radios that I use as base radios. President 2510, Galaxy 959(extra frequencies) and a Stryker 955.
The Stryker blows the Galaxy and the 2510 away!!! MUCH better audio and MUCH better(quiet) receive. I paired the 955 with a Delta M2 desk mic and it sounds amazing.

Those are great radios! The only downside is the power supply needed to supply the proper amps is a bit of a turn off to some of us. I was heavily considering one of those till I saw the amp draw.

That's what I bought to replace the galaxy radios.
It's what I'm running Uniden 980 w/ Palomar LD400. Wurks gud. But.......the 2970N2 has yet to get out of it's box. Once that goes dwn, 980 & LD400 go mobile.
To me, the AT-6666 is about the best thing out there.
I know more than a couple of guys who are running that 980. They all sound clean, no drift, put a good power Mic on it & they sound clean & loud. I've been a fan of Uniden since I picked up a Grant XL years ago. Running a Grant Xl now. If you can find one for the right price that isn't totally screwed up, they are repairable.

Used/ rebuilt mobile = Uniden Grant Xl. Or another ssb radio made by uniden (I'm not sure about the Grant Lt. Never heard/ used one)

I've had just about every Galaxy mobile they've made. I never experienced much drifting issues like many mention. I think the early ones did. Anyways, the ones I've had have been OK. Anyways, if it does drift a little, just reach over and tweak it.
I had the 980SSB and it was a good radio.
Clean audio with a Turner +3B hand mic sounded awesome.
Only thing I hated about it was that annoying beep.
I agree with Mudfoot, the AT 6666 is an awesome rig too.

I talk every day on my 955, none of the 8 locals I talk to has ever told me that I drift. And they would tell me if I did cause they know I'm particular about such things.
