This is a simple and inexpensive way to get your Wouxun HT connected to a sound card.
A Kenwood-style spkr/mic pigtail that works perfectly with the Wouxun is available from Argent Data Systems (argentdata.com) for $6:
https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=70
The product page includes pinout information that is confusing. Since I got confused myself and was fortunate enough to get some help from a ham who had already gone through the process, I'll pass that info on here in the hopes I'm saving someone some headbanging...
There are four wires in the pigtail's breakout: white, black, red and blue. It's easier if you IGNORE the color-code and test everything yourself, because the manufacturing process changes its mind sometimes.
The connector has two plugs: a 3.5mm TRS plug, and a smaller TS plug. I will provide the colors used on *my* pigtail; yours may be different! The pinout is as follows:
TRS tip: (not connected)
TRS ring: (white) = MIC
TRS sleeve: (black) = PTT
TS tip: (red) = SPKR
TS sleeve: (blue) = GND
Be careful to insert the spkr/mic connectors FIRMLY into the jacks. Mine required enough extra force to go all the way in (compared to the stock Wouxun data cable) that I didn't plug it in all the way the first time, thereby failing to make a proper connection and costing me some troubleshooting headaches.
I have my Wouxun KG-UVD1P connected for digital modes using this cable. From the pigtail, I connect to a SignaLink USB via RJ45, then into my digital mode sw of choice, Digital Master 780 (part of the Ham Radio Deluxe suite.)
Thanks to John, W5JHW, for helping me out with this info that Wouxon doesn't provide...
