Executive summary:
Modification requires removal of R76, located on top of the top board, at the very front.
Steps:
Remove the front 4 screws... The knobs, etc. should not need to be removed.
Remove the four back screws and the back panel.
Place the radio on its top and remove all the bottom screws.
The chassis should then slide out the front of the case.
Place a piece of plastic wrap over the heat sink to avoid a mess.
Turn the radio over and look for R76.
Carefully remove R76.
Reassemble the Rig.
