YAESU FT-450D NOT TRANSMITTING WHEN PTT IS PRESSED ON MICROPHONE

Hello, hope you can help, I sent my FT-450D to a good friend in Florida as he just got his General license. but the radio is not transmitting when he presses the PTT button on the microphone, I sent him a brand new one and the same, everything else works on the rig, the tuner works, the up and down frequency buttons on the microphone works, he has reset the radio a couple of times, but no luck so far on the PTT button. I know it is probably a setup issue but so far we have not been able to find the right one to unlock this mistery.

Ah, the "VOX" switch doesn't disable the PTT when it's active, does it?

Only way I can think to disable it without something mechanical like a severed wire.

Yes I tried that and also reset the rig and nothing. thank you !!

What microphone is being used with it? I quickly Googled the title of this thread and found the following video. There is a lot of mundane blah blah blah but it addresses a safety issue of the FT-450. The TX is inhibited if the radio is turned on in TX mode.
