    Kenwood TS-430S repair

Your AM filter, is a Fox-Tango, which then became International Radio (INRAD). It is an 8 pole discrete crystal lattice filter, which is physically larger, than the Kenwood filter, so it needs to be wired in. It is a much better filter than the stock Kenwood filter, so consider yourself lucky...

For the sake of learning ! Germanium vs Schottky Diodes

I find it to be better, which is why I ALWAYS replace with germanium.

For the sake of learning ! Germanium vs Schottky Diodes

One more note on this subject. The germanium detector cannot "bring in more noise". What I did find, was that the smaller forward voltage drop, overloads the already too sensitive AGC circuit. The end result of better RX with schottky is a myth.

For the sake of learning ! Germanium vs Schottky Diodes

The main difference in this circuit is the forward voltage drop, which is slightly lower with a schottky. The original design used germanium, which cost more than schottky. Then the genius RX mods came around, that use schottky. I have found the germanium to work better and remove schottky's and...

What is wrong with the clarifier? It either works or it doesn't. Which version of the Q6? The original Q6 clarifier "center slot" is at around 3 o'clock, not 12 as one might expect. This changed in the Pro version.

    Chinese cb base antenna

Looks like $77.87 to me for one piece shipped to the US. The antenna is a POS anyway, why bother.

    Silicone on outdoor RF connections.

I wouldn't use it. In most cases, silicone (RTV), contains acetic acid. No bueno......I have been using DB Prods Vapor Wrap (butyl rubber mastic tape) for at least 40 years. Applied correctly, never a problem.

What year did the HR 2510 go into production?

I recall it to be 1988. My HTX-100 was made in 1988 and the 2510 was out on the street before it.

AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

That is the plan. My call starts with a leading dit, which gets cut off by the slow TX/RX turnaround. I don't think that makes me serious vs casual. But speed may be an issue, but either way, the leading dit or dah will be cut off, either completely or partially., which is unacceptable to me...

AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

The changelog doesn't tell he whole story. The fix that matters, is the T/R turnaround time. Settings are one thing, but does it work?

Acquired a Vocom Products 500 watt UHF amp

It should be around 500 W. I think it may need to be repaired from the looks of some of the balancing resistors. I knew the owner of that company, as I was a VoCom dealer in the 80's. He was from the Schaumburg IL area, worked for Mot at one point. I can't remember his name though.
