Danzik,
Think of the schematic showing two different systems.
One is the flow of RF. The path your transmitted signal follows when barefoot or on "Standby" and when "Hammer Down" or in the "Operate" mode. Your RF does not flow through the filament circuit of the tubes nor does it flow through...
Check your schematic again when you get the chance. That resistor does not connect to the center pin of the output S0-239 connector. (FYI The center pin of the output S0-239 connector attaches to the "Common" terminal of the relay. "Common" meaning it is involved weather the relay is...
Just made a contact with 404 in the Keys. Nice signal into SW Atlanta.
I finished up my refurb of this 148 (AKA The "TURD") this morning and made the first contact on it with 404.

The value is not critical. There is no polarity on a ceramic capacitor and you can probably use the ones already in the amp.
For example your lower left tube in the picture you posted above has a .002 uF (microfarad) capacitor tied to pin 12, pin 1 and ground. Lift the soldered connection at pin...
Copied from nomadradio's post #23 of this thread.
The decoupling capacitor should be in parallel to the 12v feed of your first tube and in parallel to the (now) 6v feed of the second tube in the series pair.
My drawing above does not show the correct configuration of the decoupling capacitor. It...
Not an easy way to type this out but I will try.
For 12v filaments, all 4 tubes will have a single 12v wire to pin1 (or 12-doesn't matter). The pin without the 12v feed will be grounded.
In your picture above, it appears the 12v feed starts at the lower left tube in the picture. The other 3...
Can't shed any light on the topic and don't mean to de-rail the thread but as a 13 year old with his first transistor radio, I used to listen (with the mono earphone) when I was supposed to be going to sleep to the King Biscuit Flower Hour from a station in Arkansas (I grew up in Bayou La Batre...
I think I would ditch those electrolytics sooner rather than later-unless you are not adverse to loud bangs while operating your equipment.
Your picture of the internals is very common for 70's amplifiers. Could be translated to many schematics.

As a side note, whenever a Ford vehicle passes next to me on the road, I hear a terrible whining/static noise on my CB until that vehicle is 50 yards or so ahead.
Might be worth a check.

I have always believed that when the FCC carved 11 meters out of the "Ham Only" frequencies and allocated that as "CB" frequencies, Amateur Operators were quite upset and blamed CB operators for their "Loss of Privilege". Since 11 Meters (as an Allocated Ham Band) would have been USB Phone...
