Switch there is an old thread here on running bat caps from stereo shops here somewhere. As already stated the general consensus was it just didn’t accomplish much. In your case an upgrade to say a 140 amp alternator would be money and time better spent.
Can't tell if your being funny or serious. This is a 40 dollar throw away radio new, 15 bucks used. It's probably dinky little surface mount parts, bump the modulation and run a better mic. Done.
To be honest any of those ulta high powered radio's are a complete waste for many reasons. That is just way too much going on in a small space. Best bet is get a Stryker 955 with a clean conservative factory tune/alignment and match that up with a mic that sounds great with your voice type. Then...
I hope you can find something that will work. I watched a youtube video on this radio. The guy talking said the power cord is probably even more rare to find then the radio itself.
Well said, this was mentioned in the first 14 posts. Hard to believe when the builder tested it with 50 watts drive it didn’t have issues right then before it was shipped. Never been a fan of 2x4 and 2x6 amplifiers.
The best bet for that radio would be to have it re-capped with quality components. There is a member here that goes by Klondike Mike, he sells complete radio cap kits for probably any radio out there.
After the re-cap a complete factory alignment is in order and then let that radio be what it...
That’s usually how a dual clarifier works, one slides and one does not. To be honest you could do a complete alignment on that radio and it won’t solve the problem. That radio will drift like a sailboat on SSB and you will hardly ever be at 12:00 on the clarifier. That’s just how Galaxy export...
You should be able to get a Lil Wil to at least 1.5 SWR. Just remember to check it on AM with enough carrier to get to the calibrate point on the meter. Should be able to just move the stinger up or down. Here is a nice link that can help. A mag mount on top of a truck like that is perfect. Just...
In any cb application in a mobile there is always a need to adjust your antenna for the best SWR. What antenna and vehicle do you have? Where is the antenna mounted on the vehicle and how?
I’m glad you have one working to the point you like it and feel it’s great. That said they are still a very crappy radio. For what the average person would have to pay a tech to make it function better is just not cost effective. There is a thread here on the forum from years ago talking about...
That round donut looking thing your pointing at in pic one is not there to secure the cable. It's a magnetic ferrite choke. I think X-Force amplifiers used to come that way.
I bet that's a great combo. In the late 90's I had a KL60 mounted to a Uniden 122xl, I thought that was the shit back then. Then all these hi powered radio's started coming out.
