Looks like predictions for today call for only "FAIR" propagation in the 12-10 meter range. At the same time, however, we've got some interesting weather systems that could impact skip.
Our net starts in just over 6 hours at noon eastern. Catch you there.
MARCH 18 - 19, 2023 LSB 16 NET: With A New Sunday Twist
We will run our net Saturday, March 18th on the usual schedule. The start time will be our customary noon eastern/9:00A.M. pacific with every subsequent hour on the hour as coordinated times for hailing.
On Sunday, we'll try something...
My wife and I spent a great Sunday together, so I wasn't on much yesterday, March 12th. However, three contacts were made and I was really glad to discover that there is Lake Eerie SSB Radio Club on the Ohio edge of Lake Eerie that runs a net on LSB 16 Sunday mornings at 10:00A.M. eastern - two...
603? If that was you two I heard, you were booming in here in Miami, FL. I heard the station in Bakersfield (405?), but just barely, over the noise floor.
I made two LSB 16 contacts already. I heard 001 off of Lake Eerie. He was booming in down here in Miami. A quick call out to him and I learned that he's the net controller for Lake Eerie SSB radio club. They are on LSB 16 Sunday mornings at 10:00A.M. eastern. He didn't know about WWDX and...
LSB 38 is already a mess. Several stations just ratchet-jawing are clogging it up and there's also plenty of folks trying to DX. LSB 39 isn't quite as crowded, but it is again tied up with folks having conversations. LSB 16 is quiet. We'll see when the net begins in an hour and half...
Let's see if the skip gods give us a hand tomorrow. We'll do the usual noon start time.
Don't forrget to reset your clocks tonight. It'll be interesting to see how Daylight Savings Time affects results.
Make LSB 16 great again!
We're off to a good start today, March 11th. I've made contacts with WDX 561, 36 out of Ohio, WDX 163, WDX 312, 222 out of New York CIty and was hearing WDX 945 calling out. The biggest issue I'm having today is QRO and QRM with bleedover from AM 15 and electrical noise from a dirty battery...
We might also consider that we are just a few days away from Daylight Savings Time and the longer days that come with it. That will give us a few extra hours of daylight. We'll be able to test that as soon as on this upcoming Sunday.
Nothing is etched in stone. I'm all for making any...
We are not bound to any particular schedule. Also, I can definitely see how noon eastern/9:00A.M. pacific might be a bummer for our fellow operators out on the west coast and even Hawaii. The goal has always been to deliberately set up the highest concentration of operators with this...
Today, Sunday, March 5th was the 2nd best skip day I've had on LSB 16 in the last six months on my little rinky-dink barefoot rig. Great turn out from our WDX group. It is also nice to see other folks jumping in. We're not crowded like LSB 38 just yet, but there were a couple of times when I...
This guy on AM 16 has been talking away for almost an hour straight. He complained about the SSB traffic, but his buddy told him LSB 16 had been in use since the 70s.
I heard him several times just above the noise floor. I didn't have any luck in getting back to him, but he's making the trip across the country.
But I'm not complaining. 12 contacts this afternoon all over the U.S. Not bad for a barefoot PC 122 driving an A99.
