TXM Hardline TXM SF-1/2C Sure Flexible Foam Coax
JEFA LL400 and Times Microwave LMR400 dBd/100'
Considerable differences.
In this case I'm sure which is the low loss coax.
Cobra 2000GTL DDS-VFO
Step 2, after clearing the floor space.
Step 2b Setting the Groundwork
Step 3 Arduino Board install
These images acquired during my investigation into worth of swapping out the existing Frequency Switch Mod for the DDS-VFO mod. I don't have the skills nor eyesight to do...
Your not at all wrong about that! Not at all flexi like either rg58 nor 8X. As unrully as the cheapest garden hose you've wrestled to coil up or uncoil.
Got a 125' length of JEFA LL240Flex yesterday. Outer jacket is ultra slick. Not sure my 2" snuggly wound 550 Paracord was going to grip it...
Yes, Thank you DB for your efforts.
I derived the inflated Imax 2000 Gain from the only published data I was aware of. Namely, +2 dB over the A99 which was itself, I now realize, highly inflated.
The Imax 2000 Gain should be more correctly, I defer "accurately" to the more informed, the gain is...
dB loss / 100'
You can certainly do worse than RG-213; namely RG-8X or 58 (350-400W). Though with Velocity Factor there is little or no difference. The lack of a foil 2ndary shield? Probably attributes to the 0.36dB loss increase?
I've a couple 50' lengths of RG-213 that I mull over and...
I'm surprised there aren't far more occurrences of copper clad coax; in asmuchas current flows on the outter skin, why not?
Though the corrosion factor exist, if I were looking for short term application, I might be inclined. But, it would have to be mighty cheap!
Lately I've gathered very helpful insight from the many knowledgeable folks on this site concerning coax. The principal is power losses. I want to thank all ya'll Elmers for your insights.
The JEFA Low Loss 240 Flex, pseudo LMR240, the specs come up short on one aspect of construction I find...
Is it stranded or solid core?
I ordered 125' with PL259 connectors attached ($77); so I won't know, for certain. I must correct my error of referring to this as LMR240. It is Low Loss 240 Flex having very similar properties.
Marconi, I don't understand what there is to compare between ABR...
I've a Cobra 29 LTD Chrome. It's a in pristine condition, and will sit on the shelf, in its original box for years to come. You want to dabble with upgrading; there is much written up on the Cobra 29.
A SSB radio will run you an extra $150 MOL over the General Lee. I'm partial to Stryker...
Sounds like you're fixated on the radios you want and have a plan. Welcome back to the hobby.
I've dealt with Bob's CB and Bell's a few times, each, with satisfaction.
Only one requirement was my downfall on my radio selections, twice. Soon decided I wanted SSB.
Asking the same question? Where do you get your coax? The thread is several years old and I wonder if the pricing isn't just a old: https://www.jefatech.com/collections/jefa-tech-coax-cable-assemblies/products/ca-240f-c1-c2-l?variant=33788794504
100' LMR240 Flex with PL259s attached @ $66...
There is a purpose/reason for the corona ball. Otherthan the dampening of lightning bolts from the ends of a high powered antenna, I contend that it serves to preserve the null areas off the end of a monople. How much wasted energy is directed into space, towards the stars, I've no idea. But...
Imax GPK is similar to the Procomm unit Dr. DX linked to above. The Procomm unit is less expensive.
I've one of the Imax GPKits having one radial damaged. My point for mention is the wire gage. It's not 12 or even 14AWG but more likely 18AWG, maybe 16AWG at best. They are after-all, a ground...
Yes, close enough for goobermint work. Will settle for 1.10:1 across the band.
Chnl 01 DK80W 1.30:1
Chnl 40 DK50W 1.05:1
Doesn't matter whether its a barefoot radio DK10W or 2W into a 2 Pill foot warmer. SWR is the same.
Can't figure the lopsided DK80W & SWR.
I'd actually lengthened the legs...
I'm turning my opinion of the 90 degree inverted V (I-Vee) towards that of more the seasoned; I think it was Mike who said the 90d was omni-direction. My 90d, at 13' AGL, is oriented Oregon to Jamaica (MOL) while Nova Scotia and Mexco City are L&C. It's not as directional as I'd thought. And...
I get an impression the top length of the A99 is subject to damage often? Makes for a great selling attribute; for Walcot or others?
Built-in obsolesence.
Why Antron, Solarcon, whomever, doesn't have replacements @ 1/2 price is a lost oportunity.
Firestik 6' ? What if? Better price than a...
