After replacing the resistor does the light come on or does the resistor puff instantly? If it's instantly then clearly as Robb said there is a dead short between the resistor and the bulb.
I currently have both the 6666 and 9900 in for repairs from the same customer. They are both exhibiting similar issues I have not tackled ether one yet as they just came in but in the notes, from the customer, he said they are both new and only lasted about 2 hrs of use. They are not in the line...
This is for William from Tyler TX.
The Mckinley is done! Ok, William, this was an adventure in reverse engineering kinda-sorta I had to undo some things that must have been done by someone dwelling into the deep dark areas of internet shade tree technology. That being said the radio worked but...
They are a great source I restore many different types of radios for customers and Barkett has made the process a pleasure at times. PARTS that are hard to come by. I have many thousands invested in parts but there is always something I don't have it is Murphy's Law.
This sounds like a total loss of supply voltage to the counter most likely. Even a good capacitor can go bad but if all caps were replaced as I know Mike often does? there still could be a bad one. since there are 2 supply voltages that are dedicated primarily to the counter it could also be a...
Amen on the shipping!!! it's possible no matter how well you pack something if there is an issue that can rear its ugly head shipping will expose it! I receive and send back to customers at about 40 to 50 units a month and that rate of work only took about 3 months since I started taking...
Ok, I let us try this one more time, Why? Anyway, you stated that it received, I know this because if you plugged in an extension speaker you were able to here the receiver RIGHT? So there would not have been any reason to replace any of the parts you replaced. So that means there is still...
Well There is only one thing that will pop a speaker that quickly and that is a DC voltage or a speaker that was faulty before you put it in the unit but you should always be using a known GOOD bench speaker when troubleshooting a radio if you had plugged a bench speaker into the unit under test...
Well, first it seems your receive is fine, right? After all, reading your post it would seem that the only issue is the audio isn't being delivered to the speaker? So you just replaced a bunch of parts that had nothing to do with the problem we call that "Parts swapping" Now I'm usually pretty...
I have been wondering about Mike I do tune into his vids when I get to thinking about it. I don't always agree with some of his assessments but there has always been plenty of room for debate, for the most part, he is really solid and It would sure be sad to see him not be active.
Ahhhhh yes the Andy Griffith police radio/CB I have not worked on one of those for some time but I don't have many sending me radios from that time slot anymore, A few but not many. I think those were only 3 or 4 channels you would have fun finding crystals for channels that would make it...
Had this sent to me for repairs: I managed to fix all the obvious issues but unfortunately the amp case sheild is missing and that doesn't work well in these the amp must be shielded and although I can fabricate a shield I would love to find one. Anybody knows where one could be found or does...
