Hello All: Yeah thats Radio enthusiasts at its best. Is the red wire the input?
That coil looks like it came out of a commercial big boy transmitter.
The first Interceptor 10K 5/8 was a heavily modified Maco V5/8 antenna. It looked way different but worked great.

Hello All: Yeah Great question there Homer, had a few long wire antennas and was only impressed with the dipole cut for a band. So what is the all band long wire or dipole HF gettem all wire antenna. I see many with home made tuners and Dyno Labeled makings on the front panel makings for the...
When you get your V3 up check for sharp nulls off the side of the beam say 90 to 110 degrees off the front the front of the beam. Yagi beams have this sharp null some times -30 to -40 dB but with only a few degrees wide.

There is a bunch of different military whip antennas for HF and VHF bands some of these antennas have a band select switch in the base of these antennas to select different parts of the VHF band, and for low power use of around 25 watts or so.

Suggest you look at a hairpin matching system, DX Engineering has the current balun and hairpin kit.
I use the gamma match to stir paint.

Yeah center of the roof works great! CB Radio performance above all, unless your going to the Paris Airshow to show off your truck by invitation. My invitation must have got lost in the male....
Got my 77 Ford F250 in Oct 76, the next day had a 102 inch whip antenna mounted on top center the...
Hello All: Yes the Megawatt supply will slowly drain the battery as when its turned off, another "Oh how wonderful" thing to bite ya. I installed a heavy duty switch then turns off the power supply when not needed. That fixed it when it was off. It keeps the batteries up and charged when heavy...
A few times a year I go out camping with the local Jeep Club, and set up antennas for CB, VHF, and UHF to keep touch with a Jeep Run with as many as 50 Jeeps in the run. I keep an ear out for lost or people in trouble on the Jeep Run, and with the three radios it can get busy radio wise. Have a...
Hello Staybolt: Pretty simple, it just screws together and mounts to a mast, and hook em up coax at the bottom of the antenna. No tuning is required if I remember right.

Hello All: Great reply DJboutit thanks. I have also a neighbor with solar cell RFI but its not bad, it shows up every 200 Kc, so while tuning the Ham or CB Bands a small signal every 200 Kc shows up on the spectrum display. So I am getting use it as a frequency marker and it doesn't really...
Hearing static noise also when the power line noise quits. Think its coming in as skip and stays pretty much in the radio for a few hours.
Jay in the Great Mojave Desert
Yep thats power line noise all right. Being out here in the Mojave Desert with high winds and land scattering sand and dust all the time, the lines and insulators get dirty and arc causing RFI all over the bands. Its all over the place and many times have to drive some what out of town to find...
Wow bad luck for sure. Bought a not working 321 amp one tube driving 3 tubes. Got it all working, but the RF going out was unstable, and it blow the 15 amp fuse a number of times. A few days later figured out it had 6 volt filament tubes in it and had 12 volts applied to them. Yeah.....

Iam sure there a bunch of radios never released that were big fancy radios and such. I don't care as I will never probably find one at the TRW Swap Meet or garage sales.
All I want is to make the watt meter go all the way over to the right! I have ways to make it sound bad with over modulation...
This looks like a good choice antenna for camping and doing the Jeep Run communications for the Jeep Club. I have a box type trailer that carries mass quantities of fire wood and unnecessary crap. But all the masts, antennas, coaxs, and ladders are placed on top of the box trailer and tied down...
