That is correct. Just saw the latest post... this is new to me. My LDG takes a cable, and you hit the tune button on the tuner. I use that for a portable setup.

Here's me talking to Little John. FT-891, Atas 120A, stock mic using a bit too much compression, and have the parametric eq set up for punch. He's down around Canyon Lake, TX (New Braunfels area), and I was just west of Texarkana.

I had a friend back in the 70's that ran them stacked. According to him, the rear rejection was better than his Moonraker IV. Also, there's a thread on here somewhere from years ago... one of the Needlebender guys in Canada stacked 4 of them on a truss setup. Pretty crazy. Unfortunately, he...
Looks like the price has gone up since I bought mine, but that was like 5 years ago.
There's bound to be some good quality Chinese stuff out there for a lot less money.

I had a Rode USB mic that worked really well. More of a recording setup via computer, but still... I think it ran close to 100 bucks, came with a stand and pop filter.

I considered buying a 3000... these days they are pretty cheap. But you are spot on, the Firewire thing killed it for me, too. I'm happy with my FTdx3000 and RSP1 setup anyway. :)

I have personally taken radios to Mike that he checked out and said... there's nothing wrong with it. No charge. I usually paid him for his time, and thanked him. I've also seen him tell guys they don't need this or that, because it just ruins your rig. He does good tune-ups and aligns them...
Mike is a great guy at Kilgore's. Very honest Christian man, and he knows his stuff. And 543_Dallas is right... I've seen a few Dallas techs that brought their repairs to him.

The other school of thought is, the higher up the antenna, the smaller it looks from the ground. Put a 5 element Yagi up at 60 feet, and it's tiny! :ROFLMAO:

I always heard Gooserider made some great amps for AM. Not sure if he's still in business or not. Mike's shop in Mansfield carried them, and they were labeled Twister or Texas Twister IIRC.

I have ran the RSP-1 with an Android program, and it works pretty well. You need a windows based program to really get the best out of one. Many more features with Sdr Console, HDSDR, etc.

Pretty sure that's a gussied up 2000GTL in the picture. There was someone making stick on panels or decals and selling them on Ebay as best as I recall. Might have been Deb's decals? I think Klondike Mike did a video on one that he did.

My Comet mount took a dump while traveling down I35 the other day. Antenna hung on by the coax. I thought it was ok, but when I replaced the mount, it seems the coax is not attached in the connector. Will have to either try to fix it or buy another short length of coax. :( Sorry the Windows...
