All the eye candy aside, the 929/949/959-series Galaxy's are all great modulators when tuned properly with just a touch of modification in the AMC and mic preamp circuit. If you step up the mic preamp gain, and speed up the AMC timing, they really boom. A touch of echo, and no-one will know the...
I agree with Cold Beer. Leave it the way it was designed, and tune it properly. If you want to punch it up a bit, you can step up the gain of the mic preamp IC (change the feedback resistor from a 270K to a 470K or 560K).
My guess is that RF is getting into the engine control module, or its sensors. You may need to add RF shielding and/or filtering to the wiring of those items.
I agree. The 4300-300 will do about 400 watts with the pills in it, and the little extra from swapping them will get a barely noticable nudge higher on the other guy's meter. Not woth the high $$$$.
I was told that you asked to be removed from that list because the work load was too high. Did that change? Or did you forget to add "former" to that part of the signature, lol?
Just to clarify, the DTB Radio website only links to the blacklist. Since the blacklist generally only lists shops that are known to clip limiters, etc, I keep the link posted. Many have thanked me in person for having that link there, since it kept them from spending money to have their radio...
That has me stumped, too. My best guess is some kind of goofy interaction between the amp's input circuit and the tank circuit of the 1000. Have you put a meter between the amp and radio when trying to run the amp?
Been horribly busy lately with the shop move and normal business, haven't had time to reply. That is probably a typo on my part. I'll need to double-check it against a 148 chassis when I next get a chance.
I haven't seen a 2950 yet that I couldn't convert for full coverage, regardless of the specific model variation. I may ot have encountered them all yet, though.
Prices will vary from shop to shop, and even from location to location. The market dynamic in the US is very varied due to the wide range of user distribution. For example, I've found that prices in the midwest tend to be higher than they are in the south-east.
As far as specific prices, that...
I recommend a MOSFET conversion if you want a low key and healthy PEP. I've fallen in love with the IRF520 transistor for that purpose. WWW.CBTRICCKS.COM has all the info you'll need for that conversion on that radio.
You should be able to enable talkback by lifting one leg of a diode near the receive audio IC. I dont have a part # to give though.
Glad to see you found the conversion. I knew it was simple, I just couldn't remember exactly what it was, lol!
OUCH!!!
I lost count years ago how many radio's I'd seen come through with the same kinds of problems. And I have to agree, I think the whole "swing" thing (myth, hype, BS, whatever you want to call it) was probably originally perpetrated by some shop looking to make a buck where he couldn't...
The delta tune was originally included to allow the receiving radio to track in a slightly off-channel transmitter. It functions about the same way as a clarifier, but for a different purpose. My understanding is that since the Cobra 29 LTD Classic is already type-accepted by the FCC, Cobra can...
