the 2970N2 is a very good radio I use one on ten meters and always get good reports never a bad one at all. but a really nice radio that you could buy used off of a site like Qrz.com and have a better radio would be a Kenwood TS-480HX a 200 watt radio that can be had for around $750 to $950...
any of the beam antennas you listed will get the job done pretty well there would not be much deference between any of them out of he ones you listed go with the one you can best afford but make sure you get a good rotator one that is actually one size bigger then you need for that antenna...
I know love my Cobra 200 I even use it on 10 meters I use a Ranger AC7000 u/d mic with the built in equalizer on it and many guys when I tell them on 10 meters it's a Cobra 200 they don't believe it they always tell me they thought I was on some high dollar HF. I never have had any trouble with...
I have the 95T S9 and the 2970DX and 2970N2 and I gotta say a properly tuned 95T will run right along side the RCI 2970DX &N2 on SSB for what they are. I use mine on 10 meters all the time when the 10 meter band is open and always get great audio reports from the audiophiles drift is very...
It's not mine really I was going to help a buddy put up the antenna he said it was an Imax 2000 but the box just has Max 2000 antenna system written on it I just wanted to make sure he didn't get some sort of knock off. I did try and talk him into a Sirio product the Gain Master but wattage...
I had a 2970 do the same swr thing after I had a tech put new finals in it. that radio would be the only radio on my Maco V5000 that would send the swr's sky high into the red the audio was fine but the radio would only do 80 watts max when it use to do 175 to 180 watts. turned out to be the...
I wonder why he has a 100% feedback score must be doing something right he's been on ebay for a pretty long time you would think if he was ripping folks off paypal and ebay would have cut him off from excessive complaints. I do know the tech that is helping him refurbish these radios is an...
I really see no difference with the DX I have them both on an antenna switch and some times when talking to Dx I switch between the two during the conversation and I see no outstanding difference. I was doing that today talking into Europe and actually a couple nights ago talking into New Zealand
I'm running both of those antennas right now on an antenna switch on each side of my house and it seems like the Gain Master does out do the V5000 on TX & RX. there are stations that I really can not hear with the V5000 but I can hear them with the Gain Master. although ever so slight is the...
these replies are all good and so true. sad thing that there are very very few real techs around that don't molest radios with there golden screw drivers & crusty fingers and the few real good techs that are around are swamped and mostly a one man show. just like anything else it's hard to get...
a 5/8ths wave $70 workman design like the maco V58 talks the same as a 5/8ths wave anything else $70 thru $500 5/8ths wave does what 5/8ths waves do some maybe more broad banded as others but same height same same location same coax 5/8ths do what 5/8ths does.
I always thought the 102"whip was the ultimate mobile antenna and all the others with their center loads, bottom loads and coils were just trying to be like 102"whips and use the gimmicks to make up for their lack of length for those that can't run the full 102". I myself run the sirio on couple...
i have a Magnum S-3200B base and get great reports on 11 & 10 meters on SSB and the RX on SSb is great. I've had it for about 6 years and the internal power supply just started giving me troubles, but I just use an external now. but when I called Magnum a few weeks back and asked about...
you might be wishfull thinking any radio that is in the 100 watt range you would want to run directly to the battery. the magnum 257 or RCI 2970N2 maybe your best bet cost wise. the 2970N2 you don't have to run the power wide open. but 100 watt radio the battery maybe the only way to power it right.
will the Gain Master out perform or at least match the performance of the Maco V5000. my only complaint about the Maco is it short on band width. Gainmaster low wattage is no problem never more then 100 watts run here. just don't want to lose ground wave performance Maco is pretty good there
