maco also makes a 3 element comet that is a 3 element beam that has vertical & horizontal polarization and a quad reflector. they also make a 3 element beam that is vertical and horizontal dual polarity without the quad reflector a 3 element H/V. if space is a problem the Y quad will serve you...
Alex Jones does bring to light some true stuff, doing what i do here in washington dc i hear it first hand a lot of the stuff he talks about, the only thing sometimes with him the way he delivers his message makes him sound like a nut no matter how true it is. but most of the information he puts...
they are still there alive and well. i actually talked to Arnie Coro on 10 meters last summer. but yes ol'e radio cuba is still there doing there thing. funny thing about them is they exposed GITMO and it's problems about 2 months before any American news agencies said a thing. when i heard it...
keep watching QRZ.com you can catch a good one un tampered for under $200.00 iv'e bought 3 from there and they all been radios i can just plug and play absolutly no issues. many of the other hamsters on that site sell them when they move up in class and they don't have those cb i tricked you.com...
i've tried both a 4 element Gizmotchy and the Shooting Star and saw absolutly no difference i was trying to get a little more gain ground wave i just let propagation take care of the DX when conditions are good you can talk all over the world on a Antron 99 and 25 watts especially on SSB. i was...
i have one and absolutly love it. i also run a RCI 2970dx and like the RX & TX of the 95T better. the only reason i run my RCI 2970dx more is i like to run 10 meter DX from the mobile and the fact that you can use the channel selector as a VFO on th RCI makes it a big plus when i wanna run...
i have the imax 2000 and the maco V5000 both at 42' currently and find no knock your socks off difference between TX & RX maybe just a slight edge on the RX to the V5000 maco. but of the two i like the Imax better because it's much more wide banded then the maco. on my Imax swr's stay below 1.5...
is the name of the company Mountain View Electronics in TENN. i've heard really good things about that shop. i need a place to send my radios for repair no one on the Wash DC area is very good.
i've been thinking about a 5 element Gizmotchy or either the 5 element HV beam from maco. if you had to do it again would either of you buy another Gizmotchy. i'm looking for more in the way of long distant ground wave contacts and will just let propagation take care of the DXing.
5/8ths is what 5/8ths does, pick according to your climate performance wise there all the same only build strengths are the real difference. mild to modertate climates Imax,Maco or Sirio. moderate to harsh climates 10K,coily, colossal or what ever 5/8ths is easy on your pocket. assemble it as...
the Vector 4000 is great, but seeing that you live in the catskills you may get some harsh weather you may wanna take a look at the 10K intercepter both the 10K & Vector 4000 will get you out well. but nothing is worse then being snowed or iced inside for a couple days and wanna be able to rag...
if you don't mind a used radio a i think the Galaxy 95t is the best galaxy mobile made. it does have the 6 digit freq counter which is very helpfull on SSB. i talk SSB 99% of the time and this radio gets great reports even when i use it on 10 meters talking with the hamster audiophiles go there...
buying new i'd get the Magnum, but i would rather have a used Galaxy 95T. i use one now and like it much better then even my RCI 2970 or 2950's. the Galaxy 95T is i think the best Galaxy made and i have had a few. very stable on SSB after about 5min. only thing i like about the RCI 50's & 70's...
one thing for pea picken sure you won't go wrong having a dual polarity antenna one like a maco 5 element maxi beam. screw that wire reflector hog wash. 5 element great gain with a pretty good beam width so you don't have to pin point so much like you do with 7 or 8 elements. also it seems like...
to bad the 2970n2s are so troublesum. i been thru 3 different problems with these radios and never was it fixed right being sent back to ranger, they are slipping on quality control with the mfg. and the repair shops they sub out too. had to havre mine fixed by a local tech to get it right. one...
i don't know what other kind of problems you have, but i've been running a 16 pill driven by a 1X4 thru a homemade mag mount and a 17"shaft for 5 years without a flinch. maybe your magnet diameter or spacing of your magnets is your problem or ground issues. but haveing drilled holes and run mag...
i've been getting great reports on 10 meters. here lately 10 meters has been open big time, i have talked all over the world on 10 meters the last 4 weeks or so with the icom 701 and just a Antron 99 1/2 waver vertical. but thru the years it's been a great radio.
