    Different DX

I have to say, even though I have never met the folks from Europe face to face, I really miss talking with them as the skip is non existent for the past few weeks across the pond. John from N' Ireland, Scotland, Germany, UK Italy, France, etc.... and all the rest of the good folks that will move...

    Different DX

nothin' but static here. Just finished building a greenhouse for a buddy up the street. Walked in, fired up the radio and .......NOTHIN"! All I heard yesterday were a couple of guys from Jamaica. All over up here in this GFSHH!:bored:

    Ideas?

Well, spent the day up north at a couple of boat showings and decided to take a pass for this year. It's just to much to get into right now and would require too much time in prep. time that I just don't have. Just not the right time and feel good about the decision. The wife says go for it but...

Anywhere from $45/foot to $95/ft. The 95/ft marina has live entertainment going thu' thru sat' nights. Barbecues and all kinds of fun stuff every weekend. That price includes shore power, pumpouts, wifi etc. I am opting for the quieter marina. A mix of fisherman and sailors. I spent over 500...

UHHHH....I think I need a bigger boat! Not to mention the wife will kill me although I think she knows that if some hotties wanted to go out for sail and sun, how could I refuse! :tt2: Hammock? Heck, I'm commando most of the time anyways! Clothes suck!

I AM a magnet for trouble. I have an insane story (something I experienced years ago with lightning) I'll tell ya about sometime. Changed my life forever when it comes to lightning and tall pointy objects.

DUH! I didn't even think of a dipole. What about stringing it in an inverted v pattern from the shrouds (sidestays)? How do you think having that big chunk of aluminum mast close by would affect it even if it's isolated? I would want it easy to take down when I head out. I'm gonna take a look...

    Ideas?

I am in the process of picking up a 27 ft sailboat and will be docking it in a marina on Lake Champlain for the season. Anybody have any suggestions for a decent antenna setup for ssb on the boat? Will be using 1 or 2 solar panels for power & charging of the deep cycle batteries. Would like to...

Video of Homemade Moxon Rectangle and Uniden 980

Thanks. Even though the antenna itself is light it is still a bit of a chore pushing up the 2nd length of tubing and getting the hole lined up for the pin. I trashed my left thumb and wrist several years ago in an atv wreck so it helps to have another hand. Really wanted to go to 4 lengths and...

    Homemade EFHWA Antenna ideas?

Thanks for sharing this. I would love to see detailed pictures of your build as I am a visual person when you get a chance. Love building things. Although the science behind this antenna is way over my head it's still interesting. Thanks again. :pop:

Still use that exact same thing in our honda accord '96. Use it to plug in a mp3 player.

VERTICAL DIPOLE GOING UP SOON. QUESTION

That's what I'm doing with my Moxon cable. It's cheap to do and if you use at least 3/4 inch tubing you can slide the pl259 right thru it as I will have to do along with the rotator line. The frost prevented me from doing that but it's out now. Good luck! BTW, 6 inches is plenty deep. I am only...

    "On A Day Like Today....

How different it is just a few miles away. here in VT right next door it's a whole other story here in "The Ditch". Even Manchester to Arlington VT was eerily quiet. That's where I hit Texas but that's all I could hear. Only 2 stations. It's funny because I hear stations all over talking to...

    "On A Day Like Today....

Hit 101 Texas this morning in the mobile unit and John in Ireland for a few this afternoon at home. The window opens here for a few minutes then closes abruptly. I could still hear Texas boomin in and 1 station from FL at 3p.m. but now it's turning to church bells. Nothin'.

Been really dead here too. Figures! Just when I'm getting into it! Suppose I should have researched the cycle before spending so much time getting this figured out. Gotta laugh!
