I have a 29HP I bought from a guy with the same problem of no audio. I found a cold solder joint by the audio IC. after cleaning the joint and putting new solder on it the radio works just fine now. have had it about a year and works every time I try it out.

I was just back on the site I mentioned and one of the guys took a picture of the board for the at-5555 radios and all the Vr's were marked as to what they controlled. what pic he posted showed the asq vr and ssbpower VR. have you looked inside yours as of yet?

I have not seen a service manual for the at-5555 so far. I did some searching on a sight in the UK I think it is. no luck there either.

the only service manual for a galaxy I have is the old one. the turbo I do not have . I have used the galaxy 2527 for repairs of the turbo in the past. it has been about 15 years or longer since I messed with the turbo. hope one of the other guys will chime in on this one.

try this on it. turn the mic gain all the way down. turn the low power VR all the way down. then adjust the high power 1st. then try to adjust the low power to 1 or 2 watts. see if that will work. I had a 88 a few years ago and the low power would keep the high power unadjustable if it was...

glad you found the problem. this type of item we can not help you find the mechanical problem. just like having dirty controls that need cleaning.you would be surprised to find out how many radios over the years I have fixed just by cleaning the controls or even finding bad solder joints good...
