OH yes i almost forgot. The radio has 2166 and 1969 finals in it.
ERF-2030,Thats a mosfet final right? Hell i wish it has mosfets in it but to do that upgrade right you have to change more inside the radio than i would want to do myself!
Oh i remember. I remember you doing antoher truckers 148 right before you did mine, you told him his radio was doing the same power. You also are mistaken. NOT one of my radios have any of those little coils spread apart, remember when you did that to mine that i asked you why you were doing...
Why sure he did,i have no reason to tell a lie. I got laid over for a night in Earl Ark at the TA truck stop, his shop is right infront of the truck wash next to the T stop. 80 watts on his meter, thats what he told me and thats what he showed me on his meter.
I would if i could but all of my stuff is still packed away and this is not my puter, sorry. But really. The radio was completly stock with no mods what so ever so i thought i would let him go over the radio to see what he thought about my tune on the radio. He said it was good but he thought...
Guys stop giving CB doc a hard time. He did a basic peak and tune on a Cobra 148 GTL for me a few weeks ago and showed me 80 watts from a stock final radio on his meter. No mosfets,no mod kit,no npc mod. Just a stock 148,WOW 80 watts!!!!
If he can show me 80 watts on his meter from a stone...
I know how i like to run a radio but i dont know how much is to much dead key for this radio. It's just like some people like to set a 95T at 20 watts and let it swing from there,me i run it at 50 watts, for a better sound quality, because i know that a 50 watt key will not hurt it.
I just dont...
I just got one last night and wanted to know what is the max (safe) dead key i can run with out hurting anything? I'm not much on the low key big swing thing but i dont have a clue as to what the max setting should be. Like to run it around 20 watts if thats safe.
Have you checked Grumpy's radio forum? If it's still around there are more than a few guys on that site who know a great deal about the old tram radios. If you still cant get the radio worked out to your liking then contact electronic service center ( they have a web site ) in Elkin NC and ask...

I think it's the fact that he does not want anyone telling other how he mods his radios. I mean after searching the net and reading up on his...
Yeah, this truck is like the T-2000 with the antenna mounts on top of each side of the sleeper and it would be hell to try and pull the old coax from the dash all the way out the top of the sleeper! And these things always suffered from poor grounding so i dont think it would even be worth trying...
I think i'm going to have to just go with a 25 with out the add on amp. Someone else pointed out something i had been worried about and that is over heating,so i think I'm going to go with a 25 with mosfet final upgrade and leave it at that. Like i said the only reason i was thinking of the add...
Custom Built Cobra 25 LTD Classic 100 WATTS
It's an RFX-75 add on amplifier that he puts on the back of the radio.
...and yeah it's most likely 100 pep watts.
As far as asking him. People well tell you exactly what you want to hear if they think they can sell you something. I just wanted...
I'm thinking of getting one of this for the road but i dont know anything about the guy.Is he a good tech or someone to stay away from? If you dont want to post the answer here for all to see then just IM me. I really need to know before i wast my money!
The reason I'm thinking of getting one...
OK guys, going back OTR next week and i need help finding an antenna location because the factory locations are crap!. I know they make a mount that mounts to the back of the cab ( i think it's called an outback ) but is there another place or another mount i can use?
Don't want to spend...
As others have said. Use an amp that will take a 50 watt key and you will be fine. You try and use the 2995 with "CB amps" with the key set low like 2 or 3 watts, swinging to 150 watts then i promise you,you will sound like dog crap. Try a big Heath kit,Drake or Henry. There not cheap but they...
How much power does the radio your using do and what kind is it?
I bet that the modulation limiter has been clipped in the radio and that is whats causing this. Have someone look to see if it has. If so then have it put back in and set for no more than 100% modulation. I bet that will take...
If the other person is hearing it then you have a bad ground someone where. Run the ground for the (power wire ) radio to the frame as well as a wire attached to the side of the radio and the amp to the frame as well. You can also check the ground for the alternator, pull if off and clean the...
