Certified CB radios with RF power?

Don't much care for DAS Companies. They've bought most of the well known CB accessory companies, over the years. Astatic, Wilson, K40, Road King, Francis, etc. Eventually, none of my equipment will have been produced by a company owned by DAS.

Uniden 980 SSB - crowdsource the frequency mod?

No. Absolutely not. ALL radios must be modified. Mine has been covered in chicken lights and fitted with Japanese subtitles. :p

    An Indoor Antenna Setup

Oh, yeah, I have no need or desire to duplicate that guy's system. My house sits on multiple acres, that I own. My wife might complain about antennas, but that's about it. Actually, she'd complain more if I tried to do what that guy did, lol. Mainly, I was just curious about the coil in the...

Uniden 980 SSB - crowdsource the frequency mod?

I was kinda hoping that someone would figure out a series of button pushes, or something, lol. Sort of like a tech code, similar to accessing programming to a burglar or fire alarm; no special equipment needed. Tech just pushes the right series of buttons, and makes desired changes.

    An Indoor Antenna Setup

I came across the following setup, a while back: http://statii-radio.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-use-cb-auto-antenna-indoor.html?m=1 When I found it, I had just received a Zetagi MM27 (antenna matcher) that I had ordered, and since the thing had come with no instructions for use, I was trying...

Super Swing and That Channel 6 Sound

Some folks just take themselves way too seriously. Kind of defeats the purpose of a hobby, if you ask me.

No parasitic chokes, chambers a round at the end

Well, yeah. I don't much like hunting. The idea of getting up before the sun, on cold morning, to go hide in the woods, and wait, just hoping that some creature that I can shoot will just happen to walk by.... nah. Unappealing to me. I also don't much care for the butchering process. That said...

No parasitic chokes, chambers a round at the end

Yeah, it's a "Murica" thing, particularly in the Southern states. In the mid-90's, back when I was in high school, the "no guns on school grounds" rule was largely ignored during hunting season. If they didn't ignore it, they would have had to arrest about 98% of the male student body (and a...

Pickup trucks for Yuppie grocery getters.....

Why did that guy even buy a truck? It reminds me of the book, "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche ", and what the book had to say about guys who live in NYC and drive jeeps.

No parasitic chokes, chambers a round at the end

Ain't CB for the outlaws? Don't outlaws pack heat? I actually wouldn't really notice, if these things weren't pointed out. Guns are fairly common place, in my part of the world, so it doesn't strike me as an oddity or a novelty when they show up in videos or pictures.

Weak solar cycles = another big decline of the 11 meter local & DX population

Most truck drivers seem to run without a radio, or only turn it on for traffic jams, anymore. In my company, it seems that the regional solo guys have radios, and the teams don't. Also, it seems that the newer drivers tend to not have them. Most drivers work for large companies, now. They...

LMAO free mold and duct tape

That coffee cup is closer to $150 in value, from what I can tell. My wife and her mother collect green depression glass; my mother in law has pieces that value in the thousands. That's a lot of money in dishes and serving ware that will never be used. Imagine all the radio equipment, I could...

    Stryker sr955

No. The guy that I bought it from did, lol. I bought it from another driver in a truck stop for $100. I'll get it straight, eventually. In the meantime, I picked up Bearcat 980SSB from a Flying J (so I know it's never been opened and tinkered with). That radio works great.

    fransis 8 ft moble antenna

I appreciate the thought, Mr. Clean, but that would be a rather odd sized package to receive at my UPS box, and I get neither there nor home very often, to conveniently pick up deliveries. I'll probably kick myself, later, for passing it up, but I just wouldn't want it sitting around outside...

    How true it is.....

Yep. That's about right, although I think the actual tree may be larger than the above model depicts, by now. We are finding ourselves under similar circumstances here, I do believe. At least here, though, we've got some folks putting forth some effort to cut the rope and burn the tree.

    fransis 8 ft moble antenna

I did some quick Googling on them, and apparently the 50's have better power handling capabilities. However, newer 28's are the same as the 50's, I guess due to manufacturing costs. Actually, all the useful info that Google handed me, led me right back to this site, so you could do a search...

    fransis 8 ft moble antenna

I don't have an answer to your question, but I have a question that may help someone determine an answer to yours: Are you asking about a CB28 or a CB50? There may be a difference in value between the two. If it were I, I would keep such an antenna for base unit use. I'd be afraid that it...

    h%y

You talking about these guys? http://hyelectronics.us/ There seems to be another site, same similar address, just a dot com, but it's down. I was reading some gripes and complaints about a company of the same name, that was based in Kentucky. These folks, judging from their area code, are...

    Indoor antenna

@Bill Doyle : When you're in a sub-forum (for example, this thread is in the General CB Services Discussion subforum), there should be a clickable box that says "Post New Thread"; it should be somewhere around the top of the page. I'd describe it's location, but I have never been here on a...

    A Project Under Consideration

I don't mind long posts, at all. I'm going to have crack open that radio, when I get home (which will be in about another month), so I can see what's in it. I seem to recall reading somewhere else that it was based on a Uniden. I'll have to see if I can find that info, again. The radio that I...
