dual band antenna
I appreciate the input from everyone. Thanks very much.
I've read all the catalogs and even tried a few. I just don't do much on these bands. Locally there isn't much interest.
We were just trying to get several of the local hams (new) started. Don't seem to have...
2 meter/ 70 cntmets antenna
Thanks for the responses. I really liked the link masterchief.
Now can the 2 of you or anyone come up with a good one that wouldn't have to be built?
I'm going to build one, however, a customer wants to just get an omnidirectional and not do so much...
I'd like to know, what some would suggest for this.
I need a inexpensive starter antenna for 2meters and 70 centimeters, for a base setup. Any suggestions? Which is the best?

I kind of hate to do this, but I'll answer your question, with a question. lol
Why aren't you turning it all the way up? And now for my second question. What type of mic are you using?
I'll let you get back to us and then go from there.

For the first part of your problem;
a. Did you realign the radio after the ERF mod? All of them I have done, had to be.
b. Did you use anything for test equiptment, other than a wattmeter or modulation meter?
For the second part of your problem;
a. check for a solder...
Anyone know how to deactivate the rogerbleep in a tram d-80? No switch or board, built into PC board. Just hoping someone knew off the top of their head. lol

Should also mention that I've checked for cracked traces and replaced the plugin, checked the voltages and continuity until I'm having nightmares. Is there a part that I'm not seeing that is common to all the syptoms? Maybe having a temperature tolerance problem?

I have a problem radio. The symptoms are when cold, it takes 2-3 minutes for the radio to stabilize on freq counter. It also doesn't want to stay on, acts like it had interupted power supply. Sometimes the meter won't move all the way over, on TX. Only happens in the truck, not on the bench...
magnum v/s stryker
I suppose I should also say that the customer is the deciding factor.
If you come into my shop and know what you want to get. I will sell it to you. In that respect, I truly don't understand the name calling or "mine is better than yours' syndrome.
I know which...
magnum or stryker
I would have to say that I still have to favor the Magnums for 3 reasons.
# 1.The boards in both are the same. Maybe there are sutle differences, but I haven't heard anyone capable of telling the difference in actual use. After the Stryker is gone through.
#2...

I'd like to take the credit, but I think i'm the idiot that bumped it. LOL
If all those repairs were that easy!!!
Oh, DTBradio, what is your final findings with the 2sc1969 replacements ( cw20's?)? Are you getting them to work? Hadn't seen anything lately, so was...
mics
Switchkit;
If I read you correctly, we are saying the same thing. I'm probably never going to use a power mic again. I used to 20+ years ago. But times have changed, and there's better ways now.
What I was saying to clarify, is if you haven't tried a PD 56 mic and the others...
good mics
I would personally recommend the DP-56, looks like a RK-56 but works much better. Also has an antisqueal circuit in it. Cheaper than the road king and works better too.

magnum v/s styker
I am still wondering, how so many people have an opinion on a stryker when they haven't sold that many?
As to the Magnum's, I haven't found any radio I like better. No matter who has what on the inside, the magnum wins hands down as the MOST AUTHoritative for AM...
galaxy 979
They are good CB's, however, I would spend the extra few dollars$$$ and get the 959 with frequency counter. Other than that, they are almost identical.
I have used both and really liked them.
I would caution that they are wider than a Cobra 25 though. You mentioned the...
What's your sign on name mean?
marven: Short for marvin the marsian; radio handle from the 80's. Changed the spelling for protection. lol

Yep;
That's what I thought with the last one. Which this one replaced off ebay. Guaranteed to work until you test it. :twisted: :evil: :evil:

HP 8640 signal generator
The reason I'm asking is I can't fix a problem until I find it. Everyone I know says the problem can't be happening, but it is. I was just wanting a little knowledgeable help.
The symptom is as follows; No signal generated on DC settings, however, I get one...
