Unfortunatly the amp is only a year old. It did sound good before. So maybe something fizzled in the amp somewhere. It still works on am. I wanted a bigger amp anyway! Maybe ampower can hook me up!

It has variable power hooked to the rf gain, as far as other power mods I dont know. It puts out around 18 watts on am and ssb. I did do a clarifier mod. I don't think that would effect vr11. It sounds good with the little pride 100 amp I got. I dont know what else to do. I'm not a cb tech I...

I have a slow internet connection. When the audio finally came on I had the speakers turned up loud. I almost had a heart attack! Thats a cool site!!

Ok.. Now its clear with the amp off. When I turn the amp on and xmit it sounds distorted. Its a Palomar Elite HD. On am it sounds great. On ssb it distorts no matter what I do it won't stop. ie: mic gain and such. There are no adjustments in the palomar. ?????

Who might that be, the frequency mafia? Will I get a dead fish in a newspaper on my doorstep? :lol:

It is somewhat better but still a little distorted. VR11 seems to not be making a difference when adjusted. Could anything else be cut or changed?

My grant xl is sounding scratchy on tx (distorted), enough that my local net noticed it . On am its clear. It has had some power mods done. And an expo kit. It does it on every channel upper lower etc.. I adjusted the alc it does nothing to the audio. Let me know.

I have the C model and the box looks old and yellow. It works good so far the first number on the upper channel is supposed to be 27.405 but it's actually 27.415 which is good becouse it does'nt duplicate channel 40 when you switch it up. The same goes for the lower ch. 40 is 26.955 and decends...

Ok the lower crystal is working but it drops out below ch. 22.. I can live with that as long as I have the uppers.. :beer P.S. I should have put this in the Tech Bench section sorry guys..

Thanks Nomad. I got it installed now I found out the lower frequency crystal is broke and a solder joint on the 40 ch socket is off. Gotta love ebay. I need a 11.1758 crystal now. Anyone know where to get one? 73

I got a expo 100c kit for my Grant XL on ebay. It came with instructions and chart. It says to put the provided choke in place of diode 52. One problem... It did not come with a choke. Is anyone familiar with this kit? What is a choke and where can I get one? Great thanks..
