Skirt, that radio has a pair of 2290's so it better do at least that. I have noticed that all the 200's seem to get a very conservative tune so they last. I would still go with the 2970 or 95T.
Nightrider, i'm sure the radio sounds great and all the mods are well done and working as they should. Your numbers do seem on the Hi side though, and a Rat Shack meter....come on.
As general occurance people always seem to quote unrealistic wattage numbers from their radio's. I wish people...
Hey StoneCrusher, nothing wrong with the 6900's, alot of people just prefer the 2950 / 70 models. Also, not sure what you are talking about with the speech processor. The 6300/6900 radio's don't have that. Maybe your friend had a SP-1A added.

A local guy just bought one of these new and I have to say it did not impress me at all on SSB. Do they suffer from the same problems they had when Maxon was making them ? I can't remember now what the exact issue was, poor regulator and smaller resistors or something like that. I know they...
" 2 watts key into an amp will not have a cleaner sound unless you turn the mike gain way back on the radio and then whats the point? "
My Delta has the non volted version of the NPC mod, it's loud, clean on the scope, and gets exellent reports on the air. My dead key range is 1.75 - 7 on the...
