N3JTN - Just curious why you would buy one of these export radios for $600 + when you can buy a better HF rig with all the frequencies and modes for the same price or not much more.
My 2 cents. If I buy something and don't use it in the course of a year I sell. Old radios that sit too long tend to need components, especially caps, replaced and that can get expensive. It's hard to part with the old vintage gear we grew up with but I rarely miss it once I have a new shiny...
This is the new version of the KT-8900 and they're just starting to show up on Amazon. I see only 1 review on this model. I'll try the scan function this evening and let you know.
Let me know if you have any luck programming it via software. I only monitor a few local repeaters and programming via the mic keypad is simple. Good audio reports and like I said earlier it has good receive audio for such a tiny rig.
It does do one odd thing that has no effect on operation...
