Change the "underscore" in ex_ to an "e." It will work after that. :)

Sounds like your power supply is not able to deliver enough current, so your signal is "back-swinging." Assuming the radio, amp and PS are all up to specs, the only way to fix this is to use a PS that is rated for more current than is actually needed. Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your input. :) The Comet "SMA-24" is a 1/4 wave whip, so the antenna length is "optimal." Alone, it has approximately 2.15 dBi gain. (manufacturer's spec.- for what that is worth). I realize that 2.15 is no great shakes, but it adds up to a significant gain over the stock duck...
