More info... I have determined that the problem is SSB mode in all bands, not just HF. AM and FM seem to be working in all bands, HF included.
So no SSB TX on any band, UHF, VHF, HF.
Hi everyone. I've been away from the forum for quite a while.
I have a Yaesu Ft-847 that I have just discovered is no longer transmitting on the HF bands. I would like to get it repaired, and I am seeking recommendations.
I am in Illinois, and would love to find somewhere to get it...
Cool. I tried using mine mobile for a while. It certainly got out just fine. I used a Superstar DM-452 hand mic with it. It sure did pick up a lot of nasty static and noise at times, especially in denser urban areas. My Grant LT is MUCH better about all that, and became the mobile that I...
I have one I got for 20 bucks brand new from Amazon a few years ago. It is OK for what it is. Not a very selective front end, TX audio is decent enough with a good microphone. You have to watch not to try to turn the audio up too much, or you will get a popping sound in with your...
I liked my little 203 when I had it. I ran it with a Roadpro Titan II RSPY-485 radio that ran a 1.5 watt D/K, swinging about 7-8 watts max AM, about 12 watts SSB. The amp did an honest 100 watts, maybe a touch more on SSB, with great audio reports. I traded it in working condition to another...
I was going to recommend a Magnum 257 until I saw how they are almost as much as a 2950. They used to be significantly cheaper than the RCI. You might as well just get the 2950.
Glad to hear it! I've always pretty much stayed away from ebay for radio stuff, because I just seem to always get burned on used equipment. Between the thieves and the shipping companies that damage or lose my packages, it is a gamble I just won't really make any more.
I remember on Copper's forum a few years back some guy was getting ready to put his beam up at around 50 feet agl. That idiot Lon 808 told him it would "perform better" at 36 feet because that was a wavelength for 11 meters.
I tried to post a reply suggesting that that was nonsense (in a...
Yes, it is a good feeling having taken the time to do it right. I am especially pleased that I decided to expend the money and time to get the new circuits run for the room. My friend (fellow Ham) charged me only a fraction of his normal rate (which is pretty reasonable to begin with) and I...
Some of the equipment here starting from the left is my Kenwood stereo receiver, a Galaxy DX2517 with Galaxy 250 amp and Astatic 600 meter with Astatic TUP10DA-L mic. The Galaxy is connected to the computer to it's right via sound card interface. That same computer also controls and displays for...
