searched for a manufacturers data sheet and all I could find is a chart for it at !00 MHz, 200 MHx, 400 MHz,ect.................
nothing for the lower bands.

in a word ....no.... although there is some minor "phase difference" type radiation from the radials , it is a calculated value only and you won't be able to see it without sophisticated far field measuring equipment.
The radials provide a low loss return path.
I just spent the last 7 days in a major citys' hospital, there was only me and one other patient on the entire 5th floor. ( the "isolation" floor).
The medical staff said they were being called off work because the census (patient load) was so low.
I would rewire the pigtail connector (and obviously the radio connector too) to have the POSITIVE lead be inside the rubber insulator and the ground be on the exposed metal pin.

There are 3 (!) different tuning modes on the LDG
Manual, "semi" manual, and full auto.
the "semi" setting initiates a tune cycle only when your PRESET swr setting is exceeded.
