? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

I get out well on my uniden 980, on am reaching out 30 miles daily to my regular contacts, my antenna is 2, full wave loops in a phased planar array, about 8 dbi of gain. So no trouble doing my 30 miles, I get out on ssb for dx well, but do not have any locals on ssb to test how far I can get on...

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

My understanding is that in a shtf situation anybody is allowed to use the ham, even without a lic. as long as it is for true emergency comms, So ther should be no issue there at all. I just did not figure ham much of a benefit for myself, again I will not ned to talk 100's of miles, in fact I...

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

Well not being one of any great means , my set up is simple, I have a 40 watt panel to a lawn tractor battery, to my cb radio, works like a charm on 4/12 watts on my uniden 980. gives me minimum 4 or 5 hours of talk time, charges in a day, so alI I need for comms, and battery charging, the rest...

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

yes ; not the towers, cb will be up and working as well! On 4 watts, for local 30 mile comms. Which would work better. Keep in mind 4 watts, about 36 feet to the feed, point to point. What would be the go to, cb, vhf/uhf , fm, what would be the best performer?

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

Simplex would be all that would be of interest for sure. I did have a uhf/vhf for listening at one point, did not hear much in my area. Did not enjoy the radio either, so traded it of for cb. For arguments sakes how would 4 watts uhf/vhf compare, simplex point to point for local 30 mile comms in...

? Best Comms. for 30 miles on limited power ?

I got back into radio in some measure via prepping. I chose ssb cb radio as my comms, with frs for walking comms. My reasons were cost, simplicity, and the lower power required. I have solar backup for my radio. So what IS the best type of radio in your opinion for local 30 mile comms ??? I...

    11 meter is very quiet?

ZIP here in my part of Ontario, no skip, no local, think the season is over till spring, unless the sun really gets it's game on with some sunspots. Have had nothing in over 4 weeks. I have had days where I can just make out the Southern U.S.A., but conditions not good enough for me to get out...

    Constant white noise

I have found where I live very rural, so all internet is wireless antenna, this stuff is awful for noise, I have to turn mine off to receive, gives me 3 s units, My neighbour is far away but within sight, I think his tower, and even the isp tower which is 3 miles away all put noise in the air...

pdf -building the full wave loop antenna and array-

Good stuff. I run 75 ohm coax, on the array with 2 loops, and 75/50 ohm on single loops. I have not had any issues on swr. But you do have to play to get it where you want it. I did build a vertical moxon, but had trouble keeping it tuned being made out of wire and sruts. I think aluminum tube...

pdf -building the full wave loop antenna and array-

I got them both just a pinch over 36 feet to the feed point. I think this is a minimum for good antenna performance on any cb antenna.

pdf -building the full wave loop antenna and array-

Go for it you will not be sorry, I had better luck with the 2 loop array than I did with 2 el quad or the 4 element spider beam. Loops just work for me. Super simple to build and tune, maybe a few hours work, I have even done them from extension cord wire in a pinch. There is just something...
